Quite frankly, there are a variety of interesting things going on in the picture below.

Brett Favre Brad Johnson Jersey

First and foremost; tape.  No matter how you slice it, masking tape on any piece of sports memorabilia decreases its hipness.  That certainly goes for sports jerseys; Brett Favre's included.

Now, while we're on the topic.  Favre.  For some strange reason, this guy chose Game 3 of the NLDS between the Cardinals and Dodgers to proclaim his allegiance towards his paladin.  Granted, the Vikings were in town to annihilate the Rams on Sunday, but that's no excuse.

Most of all, I thoroughly enjoy the transparency that exists here.  Fans wear personalized jersey to show their devotion for a given player.  In doing so, they emit an intrinsic,"I know what I'm talking about by supporting this player above the rest" attitude.  This attitude is slightly compromised when we all realize that this same fan actually purchased a Brad Johnson jersey, right?

Me thinks so.

...but the guy gets extra points for crossing out the 1's on the shoulder pads as well.  That's dedication.

Wow!! Just saw this on sportsnation and jumped out of my seat laughing. I actually was talking to this guy at the STL LA game and said that was the most unique (meaning weird) farve jersey I've seen. We've all seen those greenbay fans changing their white Farve jerseys into purple but never would I have thought I would see a Brad Johnson jersey again in my life especially with a Farve connection. I give him props though. He's just being a fan.

I think he is making a statement about the fickle allegiances of fans.

I have as many Super Bowl wins as Brett does.

Even the shortened version is going to be rough - Max Johnson. If he goes into porn he'll never have to come up with an alias though, so he's got that going for him.

While some fans buy personalized jerseys to show devotion, other cheapskates buy them on the sales rack after the player has left the team. Methinks our friend here falls into the later category.

Maximus Johnson better grown into that name, or high school sports are gonna be tough.
Madden, October 14, 2009 03:10 AM
He wears that jersey just like a kid out there.

Trivia: Brad Johnson's wife let him name his son Maximus. It was right after the movie "Gladiator" came out. I hope Maximus Johnson is adjusting well to his humble name.

I'm betting he parts his hair down the middle.

The only "intentional" humor I see here is the subtle message that "Favre is a johnson". Get it? Johnson? That's funny. That said, I spoke with the guy. There was no intentional humor. Zero.
JR, October 13, 2009 03:10 PM
Am I the only one who sees the intentional humor here?

I'm disappointed that this gentleman did not have a mullett, but I'm sure he drives an El Camino
kegler804, October 13, 2009 02:10 PM
I say give that guy a little credit. After all, he was brave enough to wear that out in public, knowing that it increased his chances of a random beating by like 482%.

Mr. McGwire, thank for weighing in. And yes, you're correct. That scenario would be deemed inappropriate, even in our home town.
Mark McGwire, October 13, 2009 01:10 PM
What if someone changed my No. 25 jersey to Pujols 5, and wore it to a Rams game? It would still suck

This guy proves it "If you can't do a job well, do it anyway."

I'm certainly no Our Favre or Vikings fan, but I find this jersey flirts with brilliance. Maybe it's just me, though.

The worst Favre jersey I've seen in some time. And that's saying a lot.

What an absolute dork.
The Sports Hernia, October 13, 2009 09:10 AM
Not pictured: His jersey tucked into his cargo shorts. What an incredible douche.

Rich Dotson

Once his teammates figured out that Rich Dotson could be hypnotized just by humming "Wheels on the Bus", there really was no limit to the ways they could screw with him.
