Randy Moss upset at officials for calling it both ways

Following Sunday night's loss to the Colts, Randy Moss was a little irked with the officiating.

“A lot of guys are really down because we let a game like this slip. But when things happen, you have to watch what you say. Guys don’t want to get fined. But there was some real iffy calls out there. Some of the things you wish wouldn’t happen. But good calls and bad calls are part of the game. You’ve got to live with that one, the good and the bad.”

Nothing too drastic or whiny, but I have to chuckle any time a Patriots player has negative words for the officials. These are the same officials who have been in their Patriotic nutsack since the end of the 2001 season.

In eight games, the Patriots have been penalized 24 times. Their opponents have been charged 40 times in said games. Only three times has New England had more penalties than their opponents. The biggest discrepancy came in Week 8, when the Patriots suffered no penalties while the Rams incurred nine. No one will discount the coaching and discipline of Bill Belichick, but when nine penalties are called in a game all nine of them go to the same team, there's something screwy ... especially when Richard Seymour hit the quarterback late and slammed him into the ground, and Benjarvus Green-Ellis tackled a Rams defensive back five feet out of bounds on an interception return.

After a minor resurgence with a new head coach, the Rams have lost two straight and got clobbered by their former quarterback and former team of St. Louis. Something tells me that sign is going back up.

NFL Players trading phone sex for drug advice

Two weeks ago, a handful of NFL players tested positive for a “diuretic” which all of them claim they had no knowledge of consuming. As a result, the NFL has thought of ways to protect players from falling victim to the supplement industry’s not-so-straight-forward disclosure of their ingredients in various products.

One idea is a league-sanctioned hotline for players to call. One small problem: the hotline it created is eerily similar to that of an adult phone number, leaving people like Jay Glazer mildly confused — or aroused, depending on who you believe.

So, I decided to call it myself. 1-800-N-F-L-S-U-P-P. Totally ineffective. You know why? It turns out this number is actually the number for an adult phone sex line (Note to editors: You’re damn right I’m going to try to expense the rather lengthy charge I felt obligated to incur as I fished out this story). The real number is 1-866-N-F-L-S-U-P-P … Other players complained that they have called the number and it rings and rings without someone answering. Some who have stayed on the line complain it can ring up to 15 times before it’s answered.

“The FDA needs to step in and force these supplement makers to divulge all their ingredients, especially the illegal ones, don’t you think?”

“Yea … give it to me baby. Tell me what’s illegal. What do you want to do with that pill, huh? Where do you want to put it? Tell me. Tell me now!” (as seen on The Big Lead)
