Her total is even more amazing, considering that the 2009 leader (Serena Williams) has accumulated $6,545,586 - which is only a 166% increase since 1991.
On the baseball side, the top 2009 yearly income (Alex Rodriguez, $32,000,000) is 451% higher than its 1991 counterpart (Bobby Bonilla, $5,800,000). Granted, women's tennis isn't a salaried sport like Major League Baseball, but you get the point.
