Episode 29 of the JoeSportsFan Show, kids.  Here we go.

jim-leylandThe crew switched things up a bit this week by taking a week off from the round table reindeer games and conducted an in-depth discussion about the Pittsburgh Pirates' 17 year suckitude.

Have you ever wondered how many seasons the Pirates never played above .500 baseball?  Or what about the amount of talent that they traded away in 17 years?  We have your answers.  At the very least, we made sure to talk about the ridiculous Pirates' stovepipe hats from the 70s/80s.

To close out, we observed a recent column by our cyberhomie, Peter Schrager, by bringing back the much-requested "Thoughts from a Message Board" segment.  Enjoy.

Next week will be Episode XXX, in Roman Numeral terms.  Should prove to be *very* sensual.

As a Pirates fan of 21 years, I think you guys did a good job on this podcast. The biggest problem with the Pirates has been talent evaluation and the draft. The have a lot of pitchers taken in the first round, almost all of whom had multiple arm problems. But you guys are dead wrong on the uniforms. Those pillbox caps they wore in the 70's with the stars all over them were awesome. They sell them at PNC Park and on the official website. And I've seen a lot of fans at PNC Park and a few people in Milwaukee and St. Louis wear them.

I absolutely adore the Sebek-Bacott only podcasts. It always manages to get moderately testy.

Thanks, Jesse. There's more than a few Seinfeld references that find their way into every show. Most go unnoticed.

Props to Sebek for the subtle Seinfeld reference when discussing the "you whites" comment in the Thoughts From A Message Board segment. Nicely done.

Dick Schofield

Safe to say Dick Schofield was afraid of what teammates would say if he "held it on the knob".
