Sebek and Bacott kicked off Episode 26 of the weekly JoeSportsFan Show by reviewing a little "This Week in History" and parlayed notable dates into a riveting discussion about the recent MLB/Topps union.  As of last week, Topps has been given exclusive access to use MLB team names and logos on their baseball cards.  Others cannot.  Pretty big news.  Well, for us at least.  Thus, we broke down the decline of the baseball card "industry" with a little assistance from our friend, Don West.

During the critically-acclaimed "Wiffle Ball" round table, we were joined by returning starter, Jon Pyle - who manages (Pyle Of List) and is a featured contributor for (True Slant).  We were also pleased to be joined by show newbie, Jerod Morris - a fellow Midwesterner and, well, that guy.

The following questions were asked of our esteemed guests during Episode 26 of the JoeSportsFan Show:

1.) With the Josh Hamilton body shot photos coming out on Deadspin over the weekend, we ask you, "For entertainment sake, what one athlete would you most like to see engaged in similar activities?"

2.) When your baseball card collection was at it's peak, what was the one card that you were sure was going to put you and your kids through college?

3.) With Pedro Martinez making his first start for the Phillies on Wednesday, it begs the question, "If you could see any pitcher from the past toe the rubber for your home team (in their prime or not), who would you choose?"

4.) Independent of fame, which college/professional sport would you least like to umpire?

5.) The MLB Players Union decides that having a guy with the last name of "Weiner" is too creepy, they decide that its in their best interest to name a suspected/confirmed steroid abuser as their new President.  Who are you nominating?

Side Note: As we mentioned in the closing segment of this episode, Mr. Patrick Imig and Mr. Jason Major will be releasing a podcasting counterpart to our regular weekly show, starting next week.  Stay tuned for more details.  More exciting news pending.

My blogroll disrespect has been rectified. A thousand apologies.

The introduction of autographs and jersey cards to maintain the momentum of the early 90s boom also didn't help much. Caught between making a million 1991 Donruss sets and wanting every card to be a Shaq Beam Team, the card companies couldn't balance.
